Woodrow Alvin Newman, age 91, of Collinsville, died on December 10, 2014 at the Golden Living Center. He was born in Patrick County on April 05, 1923 to the late Eddie Pleasant and Nannie Mabe Newman. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Marie Bowden Newman, four brothers, Joseph, Coy, Albert and Russell Newman, three sisters, Thelma Eanes, Margaret Spraker and Allie Swain.

He was of the Baptist Faith, and had worked for the Bassett Furniture Company for over 43 years.

He is survived by two sons, Calvin Woodrow Newman of Summerville, SC, and Donald Wayne Newman of Collinsville, two brothers, Otis and Dewey Newman, both of Bassett, two sisters, Mary Maxey and Minnie Bowlin both of Bassett, seven grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.

His funeral service will be Sunday Dec. 14, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the Roselawn Chapel with Pastor David Fullerton officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the Roselawn Chapel.
