William McKinley "Willie" Cochran age 69 of 315 Old Liberty Drive, Martinsville, passed away Thursday July 3, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem, NC. He was born Jan. 10, 1945 in Martinsville to the late Grover McKinley and Roxie Brewer Cochran.

Willie graduated from Martinsville High School Class of 1963, and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam where he served as a sniper. He was a self employed truck driver for 20 years, and later worked for Tultex and O'Reilys Auto Parts. He was a former member of the Martinsville Henry County Rescue Squad, the Ridgeway Jaycees, and was Deacon at the former Leatherwood Baptist Church.

Willie is survived by his spouse Linda Thornton Cochran of the home, one step-son and wife, Chris and Teresa Hundley of Axton, one step-daughter, Carmen Gilbert of Axton, one brother Wayne Cochran of Martinsville, one sister, Carol Beavers of Kannapolis, NC, two step grandchildren and their spouses, Amber and Austin Hundley, and Ashley and Zachary Gilbert, mother in law, Edna Thornton of Figsboro, two brothers in law, Mike Thornton of Martinsville, and Marvin Thornton of Figsboro, sister in law, Judy Stilwell of Martinsville, and "special baby doll" Button.

The funeral service will be Monday night at 7:00 pm in the Roselawn Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 pm prior to the service, and at other times at the home on 315 Old Liberty Drive, Martinsville. Interment will be private.
