Obituary

William Ray Hale, Sr. age 81 of 433 Francis Drive, Roanoke, VA died Sunday May 16, 2010 at Lewis Gale Hospital in Salem, VA. He was born July 26, 1928 in Fieldale, VA to the late Walter Rudy and Charlotte Ellen Rakes Hale. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by one sister, Margaret Sheppard.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for the A & P Company for 27 years, and retired from Continental Baking Co. with 13 years service. He was a former member of the Greenbrier Hunt Club in Prince George County. He attends Bethel Baptist church in Salem.
He is survived by his wife Opal Lineberry Hale of the home, 1 son William Ray "Billy" Hale, Jr. of Richmond, 2 daughters, Brenda Diane Heyed of Winston-Salem, NC, and Cynda Ellen Bachelder of Richmond, VA, 2 step daughters, Betty Sue Orange of Troutville, and Doris Marie Gill of Roanoke, 1 brother James Walter Hale of Daleville, 2 sisters, Jackie Prillaman of Amherst, and Clara May Neumeyer of CA., 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild.
The graveside service will be Wednesday May 19, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville, VA. with Rev. Jeffrey Hylton officiating. There will be no visitation.
