William Roy Fulcher, Jr. age 85, formerly of 2614 Figsboro Road, Martinsville, died Tuesday February 16, 2010 at Blue Ridge Rehab Center, Martinsville. He was born August 21, 1924 in McDowell County, WV to the late William Roy Fulcher, Sr. and the late Bertha Whitlow Fulcher. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife Clara Wilson Fulcher, and one sister Myrtle Mason.
He was a veteran of World War II having served as a SGT with the 10th Mountain Division. He retired from Hampco Apparel with 28 years of service in the maintenance department. He was an active member of Jones Chapel Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by his wife Patsy R. Fulcher of the home, two sons, Grady Fulcher of Martinsville, and Bruce Fulcher of Roanoke, four step sons, Steven Ratcliff, Michael Ratcliff, and B.L. Ratcliff, Jr., all of Martinsville, and Chris Ratcliff of Raleigh, NC, two daughters, Cathy F. Spencer of Bassett, and Edith F. Clifton of Ferrum, one step daughter, Donna Jackson of Axton, three grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, four step Great grandchildren, and one sister, Edna Ashby of Martinsville.
The funeral service will be held Friday February 19, 2010 at 1:00 PM in the Roselawn Chapel with Rev. Barry Sink officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with Military Honors by the Martinsville & Henry County Veterans Honor Guard, and the U.S. Army. The family will receive friends on Thursday February 18, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Roselawn Chapel, and at other times at the home on 2614 Figsboro Road, Martinsville.
