William Jackson "Jackie" Conner age 73 of 202 Ridgedale Drive, Martinsville died Thursday May 28, 2009 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville & Henry County. He was born August 27, 1935 in Pittsylvania County to the Late William Earley and Annie Mae Adkins Conner. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by a daughter Debra Carol Compton, one brother Junior Young, and one sister Mabel Traimham.
He was a member of One Accord Baptist Church which he helped to build. He was retired from Warren Trucking Company with 35 years of service as a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Stone Conner of the home, two sons Donnie Conner of Collinsville and Jeffery Conner of Ridgeway, two stepsons, Thomas Bowden, Jr. of Bassett, and Ferrell Bloff of Figsboro, one stepdaughter Donna Emerson of Martinsville, one brother Griffett Young of Florida, and twelve grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Sunday May 31, 2009 at 2:00 PM at One Accord Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Woods and Rev. Tony Lundy officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Saturday night May 30, 2009 at One Accord Baptist Church, and at other times at the home on 202 Ridgedale Drive, Martinsville.
