William Davis "Bill" Jones age 74 of Davidson, NC, and formerly of Collinsville died Saturday Feb. 11, 2012 at his home. He was born Dec. 15, 1937 in Martinsville to the late William Curtis and Gladys Lucy Davis Jones. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a brother Earl Wayne Jones.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and attended Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius, NC. He attended Martinsville High school and received Machinist degrees from Danville Technical Institute, and VPI. He retired as a machinist in spinneret engineering with the local DuPont Plant. He worked in Boy Scouting for over 37 years with Troop 67, and 74 in Virginia, and 777 in North Carolina. He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Moore Jones of the home, one son, Robert "Bob" Jones of Davidson, NC, one daughter, Bonnie J. Boulton of Simpsonville, SC, one brother Larry David Jones of Springboro, Ohio, and seven grandchildren, Amy Lehnert, Erin Lehnert, Davis Jones, Sierra Jones, Christian Boulton, Jonathan Boulton, and Grace Boulton.
The funeral service will be Monday Feb. 13, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Roselawn Chapel with Rev. Randy Winn officiating. Burial will be private. Military honors will be by the Martinsville & Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2:00 PM prior to the service in the Roselawn Chapel.
