William "Bill" Ben DeShazo, age 81, of Meadowbrook Lane, Martinsville, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Blue Ridge Rehab Center, Martinsville. He was born in Spencer on June 28, 1934 to the late Robert and Nannie Orander DeShazo. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Glen DeShazo, a sister, Betty Lawson, brothers, Guy DeShazo and Charles Read and his step-father Manson Read.

He was a member of Vision Assembly of God Church and had retired from American Furniture with over 47 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jeanette Holmes DeShazo, a son, Timothy and wife, Deanna DeShazo of Martinsville, a daughter, Wanda and husband Rusty Barnes of Collinsville, two step-daughters, Tammy (Tommy) Moore of Martinsville, and Melissa Purdy of Bassett, two step-sons Wade (Lynn) Wolfe of Martinsville and Andy Wolfe of Martinsville , two brothers, Herbert Read of Ridgeway and John Read of Spencer and four grandchildren, Angela Osbourne, Chad Foster, Ashley Bradburn and Allison DuBose and seven step-grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren and a special buddy Dustin and numerous nieces and nephews .

His funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home and interment will follow in the Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the chapel of Roselawn.
