Walter French Parsons age 86 of the Preston Community, passed away at his home on Wednesday May 23, 2018. He was born March 31, 1932 in Grayson County, VA to the late French J. and Mattie Wagg Parsons. In addition to his parents, Walter was predeceased by his wife, the love of his life, Jean Robinson Parsons.

Walter was a veteran who served in the US Air Force during the Korean Era rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He retired from DuPont with 41 years of service in the Dowtherm

area. He was also co-owner of Parsons Antiques with his wife Jean, and a cattle farmer.

He is survived by two daughters, Debra Parsons Buchanan and her fiancé Charles Williams of Preston, and Peggie Parsons Powell of Preston, two brothers, Wallace Parsons of Mouth of Wilson, VA and David Parsons of Sugar Grove, VA, two sisters, Charlsie Little of Volney, VA, and Irene Barr of Roanoke, two grandchildren, Bryan Buchanan of Washington, DC, and Brittany B. Kelly and husband Sean of Jacksonville, FL, two great grandchildren, Ryan Kelly and Caitlin Kelly, and special family friends  Betty and Zeke Whisnant and Nancy Thompson.

Walter's funeral service will be Sunday May 27, 2018 in the Roselawn Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Bud Sedwick officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with military honors presented by the Martinsville Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the Chapel, and at other times at Debra's home on 265 Station Drive, in Preston.
