Virginia Mae Reynolds, 73, died Friday, December 30, 2016, at her home in Martinsville. Virginia Mae, known as Jenny, was born in Lee County, Virginia. Jenny was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Amelia Kinzer, and her long-time partner, Charles "Ed" Willard.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ellen Reynolds, and son-in-law, Christopher Daniels of Baltimore, Maryland.
Throughout her life, Jenny was a feisty, fiery, and fiercely proud redheaded woman. From go-go dancing in Cincinnati, speeding through town in her Oldsmobile, camping at Nascar races and Myrtle Beach, and fending off the overly-friendly Italian men on a cross-town bus in Rome, Jenny tackled it all with a big, infectious laugh and a 100% no bull attitude. Jenny loved long talks with friends, gardening, Conway Twitty, and Pride and Prejudice. She was a generous and loving mom, friend, a dog-lover, sharing her home with many friends in need and a well-loved pack of rescued dogs over the years.
Jenny did not want to have a memorial service or funeral in her honor. Instead, she wanted to be cremated and her ashes spread in a beautiful garden. To celebrate her spunky spirit, friends and family will hold a wake at the Flying Dutchman at the Dutch Inn, 2360 Virginia Avenue in Collinsville, at 5:00 pm on Friday, January 6.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA of Martinsville and Henry County, 132 Joseph Martin Highway, Martinsville, VA 24112. Donations may be made in honor of Jenny and her sweet dogs, Princess Xena and Miss Freckles, both rescues and extraordinary companions and friends.
Barbara and Christopher would like to extend their gratitude to Legacy Hospice for their support in Jenny's final days.
