Obituary
Vernon Thomas Dudley age 63, formerly of Bassett, passed away Monday Aug. 25, 2014 at Inova Hospital in Alexandria, VA. He was born Aug. 14, 1951 in Dayton, Ohio to Claudine Alderman Dudley of Roanoke, and the late Arthur T. Dudley. In addition to his father, he was also predeceased by one sister, Barbara Houpt.
Vernon attended Fieldale-Collinsville High School and First Baptist Church of Collinsville. He was a US Navy veteran who advanced to the grade of AK2 (E-5), and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
In addition to his Mother, he is survived by one son and daughter in law, Charles Thomas and Kimberly Dudley of TX, one grandson, C.J. Dudley of TX, two brothers, Allen Dudley of Bassett, and Phillip Dudley of Roanoke, and one sister Kathy D. Parker of Charlottesville.
The graveside service will be held Friday Aug. 29, 2014 at 1:00 pm in Roselawn Burial Park with Pastor Troy Mays officiating. Graveside Military Honors will be rendered by the Martinsville/Henry County Veterans Honor Guard.
