Obituary
Vernard Butler, age 82, of 1007 Indian Trail, Martinsville, died on August 06, 2011 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. He was born in Newport News, Va. on September 29, 1928 to the late Ernest and Eva Hobson Butler. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Ramona Butler in 2009, one brother, Ewell Butler and one sister, Maurice Toadvine.
He was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church, a member of the National Education Association and Virginia Education Association and in the AOA Fraternity. He was a graduate of Bluefield College with a BS degree and had taught in the Martinsville City School System for 32 years. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be held on Friday, August 12, 2011 and will be private. Arrangements are by Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home.
