Vergie Bryant Sims, age 94, of Lloyd Lane, Martinsville, died on December 02, 2011 at her son, Edward Sims residence. She was born on September 13, 1917 in Henry County to the late Jesse C. and Nannie Mat Helms Bryant. In addition to her parents she was preceeded in death by her husband, James Ernest Sims in 1991, four brothers, Clarence, George, Harden and Roy Bryant, four sisters, Ruby Ziglar, Mildred Hancock, Ocie Wishon and Virginia Ruth Bryant.
She was a member at Old Center Primitive Baptist Church. She retired from DuPont with 28 years of service.
She is survived by her son, Edward Sims, of Martinsville, her daughter, Janet Crayton of Martinsville, two brothers, Monroe "Joe" Bryant and Curtis Bryant both of Martinsville, one sister, Aileen Johnston Hughes of Martinsville, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 05, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home with Elder Mike Young and Elder Larry Crotts officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Monday in the chapel of Roselawn.
