Vergie Mae Jones Hairston age 92 of 906 A Street Martinsville, died Wednesday January 25, 2012 at Blue Ridge Rehab Center in Martinsville. She was born January 27, 1919 in Axton to the late Jerome and Daisy Law Jones. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, David L. Hairston, one son, Adolphus Jones, one brother, Clyde Jones, and four sisters, Thelma Preston, Eva Clark, Garnett Hairston, and Maggie Grant.
She was a member of Integrity Life Ministries, and retired from Hampco Apparel with over 30 years service.
She is survived by two sons, Melvin Hairston of the home, and Rogers Jones of New York, NY, one daughter, Yetta Jones of Martinsville, one sister, Bernice Monroe of Axton, 14 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Tuesday January 31, 2012 at Integrity Life Ministries Church on Fayette Street, with Rev. Vincent Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:00 PM at the church prior to the funeral, and at other times at the home on 906 A Street, Martinsville.
