Valerie Anne Jones, age 69, of 5497 Mitchell Road, Ridgeway, died on Monday, October 28, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Herkimer, NY to the late John Phillip and Dorothy Lonis Buchman on November 02, 1943. In addition to her parents she was preceeded in death by two sisters, Judith Rose and Joan Buchman.

Valerie was a graduate of the Ellis Hospital Registered Nursing Program. She also received her Masters Degree in Nursing from New York State College at New Paltz, NY, and Nurse Practitioner Degree from Russell Sage College in NY. She worked for the VA Hospital in New York for twenty years. She was caring, loving, strong and compassionate about her family and friends. She also loved quilting and painting.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Douglas Jones of the home, two daughters, Rebecca Jones of Eliot, Maine and Vanessa Bruno of High Pointe, NC, one nephew who was like a son, Laurance Rose, Jr. of Delanson, NY, three grandchildren, Rebecca Bruno of High Pointe, NC, Hailey Soares of Eliot, Maine, and Brian Rose of Delanson, NY.

The graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Mark White presiding the service in the Roselawn Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
