Thomas Theodore Hodge, Jr., son of the late Thomas T. Hodge, Sr. and Bertha Aiken Hodge, was born in Martinsville, Virginia on November 7, 1944. God called him home to rest on August 8, 2016 at Berkshire Health Center in Vinton, Virginia.
Having graduated from Albert Harris High School in 1963, he went on to attend St. Paul's College in Lawrenceville, Virginia. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1966. His career choice led him into the trucking industry where he spent more than forty years as a truck driver for a number of companies, including Warren, Roy Stone and MGM. During the 1980's, he was an independent truck owner. A free spirit, he took to the open road and traveled across the United States many times as well as into Canada and Mexico. With each trip, he always enjoyed being "on the road, again."
Although he worked briefly with the Aiken Construction Company, owned and operated by his uncles in Wilmington, Delaware, Hodge was a life-long resident of Martinsville.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and caring family, including three daughters and one step-daughter: Tonie S. Hodge of Charlotte, NC; Tereasa Hodge Jackson (Hildred Jackson) of Marietta, GA; Alejandra Cornelius of Phoenix, AZ, and Carla Tarpley of Fort Mill, SC; five grandchildren: Kiosha Hodge, Darius Hodge, DeMario Hairston, Damian Cornelious and Jayden Cornelious; and six great-grandchildren. His family also includes one sister, Imogene Hodge Draper, brother-in-law, Everette I. Draper and niece, Christina S. Draperall of Richmond, VA. Marvin Muse, a dearly beloved friend, has walked every step like the prince of a brother that he isalways.
