Thomas Ray Eldridge age 73 of Martinsville, passed away Thursday July 3, 2014 in Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. He was born July 18, 1940 in Eckman, WV to the late Clarence and Martha Lester Eldridge. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his first wife Jean Milam Eldridge in 1976, one son, Curtis Eldridge, and one brother Freddie Eldridge.

He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of SFC in the quartermaster corp. He served during the Vietnam Era, and was stationed in Germany and Korea. For his service, SFC Eldridge was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, 4 Good Conduct Medals, NCO Prof. Dev. Ribbon and the National Defense Service Medal. He attended Temple Faith Church in Ridgeway.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Donna Jean Trent Eldridge of the home, four sons, Thomas Eldridge, Jr. of Martinsville, Robert Donald Garland and William Garland of Callands, James Garland of Eden, one daughter, Vicky Waller of Fieldale, Clarence Daniel Eldridge of Martinsville, two sisters, Martha Ellen Majestic of Fayetteville, NC and Nancy Foster of Martinsville, 15 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be Sunday July 6, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Roselawn Chapel with Pastor Bobby Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with military honors by the U.S. Army, and the Martinsville/Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the chapel, and at other times at the home, 5509 Barrows Mill Road, Martinsville.
