Samuel Henry Fulcher, age 87 of Collinsville, left his temporal home on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family and his pastor when he took his final breath. He transitioned into the loving arms of Jesus and was welcomed to his eternal home. Samuel was born in Patrick County on January 15, 1935, to the late Henry Russell Fulcher and Julia Feazell Fulcher. In addition to his parents, Samuel was preceded in death by his son, Samuel Russell Fulcher;three brothers, Calvin, Junior and H. Glenn Fulcher; and five sisters, Sallie Jane Law, Elma Gilley, LucilleWyatt, Mary Elizabeth Fulcher, and Julia Ruth Fulcher. He was a member of Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren in Bassett. He retired from Fieldcrest Cannon with over 40 years of service. Mr. Fulcher is survived by his wife, Bettye Overton Fulcher of Collinsville; his children and their spouses, Timothy Dale Fulcher and Sandra Stone Fulcher of Bassett; Michael Stephen Fulcher and Janie
Collinsworth Fulcher of Martinsville; Sharon Fulcher-Estes and Albert Estes of Arlington, Texas. He is survived by his grandchildren, their spouses and great-grandchildren; Samuel "Russ" Russell Fulcher Jr. and Kimberlee D. Turner and their son Guy Henry Fulcher of Stoneville, NC; Scott E. Fulcher and Nicole J. Fulcher and their children Bailey and John Fulcher of Ridgeway; Matthew and Kimberly Philpott and their children Maddie and Audrey Philpott of Durham, NC; Elizabeth "Beth" E. Fulcher of Collinsville and her son, Silas Fulcher; Cara Philpott Wimmer and Andrew and their children Grace, Benjamin, Jake and Emily Wimmer of Winston-Salem, NC; and the children of Sharon Fulcher-Estes and Albert; Nathaniel
"Nathan" Tatom of Arlington, TX and Emily Estes Dunn and Brandon of North Richland Hills, TX. He is also survived survived by his sister, Gladys Collins and William of Patrick Springs, VA. and by numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Samuel was known for his quiet, reserved nature and his love for the Lord and his family. He grew up on a tobacco farm in Patrick County. Many don't know but, he was also a church planter. He was one of the founding members of Temple Baptist Church beginning in Collinsville and worked to serve the Lord throughout his lifetime. He spent many Thursdays and Saturdays witnessing to those in his community
about their need for salvation. Even while he was in Franklin Health and Rehab over the recent weeks, he witnessed to those around him and expressed to his family that was why God had him there to share the Gospel. Everyone who had the opportunity to know him knew he lived out his faith and testimony. He has provided a legacy of faith for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren carrying on for generations to come.
On behalf of the family, the family would like to express their thanks to the nurses, doctors and support staff at Franklin Health and Rehab in Rocky Mount, VA for their care and compassion for their beloved spouse, father, and grandfather during his stay. For the church family at Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren, you are a continual source of support for Bettye and the family. The family greatly appreciates all the beautiful ways the Body of Christ continues to demonstrate love and support to our family! Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 in the Roselawn Memorial Chapel with Noel Naff officiating. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to services. Graveside service
