Sallie Lee LaPrade Hopkins, age 97 formerly of Lynn Court, Martinsville, went to be with the Lord on April 6, 2015, at the Blue Ridge Manor, Martinsville. She was born in Franklin County to the late Henry and Sallie Ann Dent LaPrade on June 25, 1917. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Edward Hopkins in 1997, grandson, Nathan Lee Hopkins in 1998, six sisters and four brothers.
She was a member of the Jones Chapel Church of the Brethren since 1958 and was involved with Women's Fellowship and Home Builders Sunday School Class for several years, and she taught Bible School, was a deaconess and helped in the nursery school for many years. She had worked at DuPont and Jobbers Plant Companies, and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her sons, David Hopkins of Collinsville, Timothy Hopkins of Willow Springs, NC, John Hopkins of Martinsville, special niece, Patsy Fulcher of Martinsville, six grandchildren, one step-grandson, thirteen great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Jones Chapel Church of the Brethren with Pastor Jimmy Cannaday, Pastor Harvey Leddy and Mary Jane Keesee officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.
