Ruth Elizabeth Beckner Merriman, age 92, formerly of Collinsville, died on Sunday, April 06, 2014 at the Golden Living Center. She was born in Callaway on September 30, 1921 to the late David Claud and Laura Belle Yopp Beckner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilber Merriman in 1984, two sons James W. Merriman and Richard Leon Merriman, a Granddaughter, Sherry Spencer, two brothers, Bud Beckner and Rufus Beckner, and three sisters, Florence Thacker, Elaine Dawson, and Helen Hopkins.

She was a member of Bassett Memorial United Methodist Church and had been a newspaper delivery person for over 10 years with the Martinsville Bulletin.

She is survived by two sons, David R. Merriman of Bassett and Gary D. Merriman of Martinsville, a brother, Henry Beckner of Boones Mill, two sisters, Shirley Wilborne and Hazel Quinn both of Danville, one grandchild, Heather Williams and one great-grandchild, Brittany Joyce.

Her graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Roselawn Burial Park with Rev. J.D. Harmon officiating the service. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 09, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home.
