Rufus Alexander, age 76, of 161 Kirkwood St., Collinsville, died on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at his home. He was born in Carroll County on August 10, 1937 to the late William Jack and Nellie Frazier Alexander. He was predeceased by his parents.

Mr. Alexander was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was the owner-operator of Rufus' Garage in Collinsville for over 40 years.

He is survived by his wife of 58 1/2 years Iva Louree Lineberry Alexander of the home, one daughter and son in law, Angie Alexander Boscan and her husband Saul, four brothers, Olen Alexander, Everett Alexander, and Lloyd Alexander all of the Hillsville area, and Lonnie Frazier of Bassett, five grandchildren, Andrew Thompson, April Ferguson, Logan Thompson, Leah Thompson, and Nicholas Cumby Boscan, one great grandchild, Sawyer Ferguson.

The funeral service will be Saturday April 26, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:45 prio to the service at Hillcrest Baptist Church, and at other times at the home on Kirkwood St. in Collinsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations amy be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 22099 Jeb Stuart Hwy., Patrick Springs, VA 24171.
