Robert David Haney age 73 of 1006 Morningside Lane, Martinsville, died Sunday July 15, 2012 at his home. He was born March 25, 1939 in Charleston, SC to the late Lawrence and Bertha Gaskins Ackerman.
He was a US Navy veteran, and member of Greenwood Baptist Church. He formerly was owner and operator of Haney's Auto Service and Garage in the Horsepasture area, and recently was owner and operator of Dixie Flooring. He was a member of Piedmont Arts Association, the Masonic and Shrine in Mt. Pleasant, SC, the Moose Lodge, and formerly a member of Fairystone Western Squares and Flutter Wheels of Rangely.
He is survived by his wife Dixie DeHart Haney of the home, three step-sons, Jerry and Peter Boothe both of Chicago, IL, and James Price, III of Martinsville, four step-daughters, Elaine Eichleberger of Salem, WI, Leslye Haney-Palway of Carol Stream, IL, Robin Harris and Jan Atkins both of Martinsville, and several step-grand, and step-great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Wednesday July 18, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Roselawn Chapel with Pastor Mark Redd, and Pastor Terry Knighten officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Mausoleum with Military Honors by the Martinsville Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM prior to the funeral on Wednesday, and at other times at the home on 1006 Morningside Lane, Martinsville.
