The founder of Bryant's Radio in Collinsville, Robert Lee "Bob" Bryant age 84 of Martinsville passed away Saturday January 6, 2018 at his home. Bob was born September 14, 1933 in Franklin County to the late Harry Robert Bryant and Odessa Thurman Bryant Ramsey. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife Thelma Louise Hopkins Bryant, and one son David Lee Bryant.
Bob Bryant and his wife were the founders and owners of Bryant's Radio and Electronics in Collinsville until their health forced them to retire. Bob was a member of Chatham Heights Church of Christ, and retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of E-8 First Sergeant, and was among the first American troops to be assigned duty in Vietnam. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Vietnam Paratrooper Badge, was a Green Beret, and received other awards and decorations for his devoted service.
He is survived by one son and daughter in law, Joe and Robin Bryant of Martinsville, one daughter, Janet Michelle Bryant of Martinsville, two brothers, Grady Bryant of Tampa, FL, and Wayne Bryant of Martinsville, three grandchildren, Tennille B. and Rodney Nichols of Collinsville, Tiffany and Cody Hodge of Groveport, Ohio, Joey and Amanda Bryant of Ridgeway, three great grandchildren, Hunter Nichols, Alyson and Macy Deal.
Bob's funeral service will be Tuesday Jan. 9, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Roselawn Chapel with James Cole officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with military honors by the Martinsville Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. Condolences may be shared with the family through this online guestbook.
