Richard Lee"Dickie" Reffett, Sr., age 67 of 1134 Westover Drive, Collinsville, died on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville/H-C. He was born on January 31, 1942 in Moberly, MO to the late Clarence and Clare Belle Ramsey Reffett. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son Richard Lee "Richie" Reffett, Jr. in March of 2008, two brothers, Melvin Albert and William Eugene Reffett, and three sisters, Mary Belle Best, Catherine Mae Nelson and Eva Mae Hendren. He was a graduate of Moberly Junior College in Missouri, a member and Deacon of Gospel Road Baptist Church, and a former member of the Moose Lodge. He was an active member of Patrick Henry Lodge #82, Knights of Pythias of Martinsville, where he served as secretary of the Trustee's for the past twenty years, was a Past Chancellor in 1978, was the first recipient of the lodge Pythian of the Year Award in 1981, served as Chairman of the Lodge Needy Children Christmas Tree for many years, and was the founder and Chairman of the Bingo Committee for 17 years. He was also a member of the Grand Lodge Knights of Pythias of Virginia, becoming the Grand Chancellor in 1990, was a recipient of the Golden Spur the highest honor that can be bestowed on a Pythian, and most recently serving for the past ten years on the Grand Lodge Judiciary Committee. He was also a member of the Southeastern Pythian Association, and the Dramatic Order Knights of Khorassan. He was retired as a regional manager with Getinge Company.He was well known throughout the Henry County area for the meals he cooked for various organizations through the years. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty Jo Hendren Reffett of the home, two daughters, Robin Richardson and Meredith Reffett both of Collinsville, one brother, Roland Roy Reffett of Moberly, MO,five grandchildren and one great-grandson. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 2 P.M. at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Henry Memorial Park, Bassett. Family will receive friends on Saturday, March 14, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at the chapel of Roselawn and at other times at the home of Betty Richardson at 1157 Westover Drive, Collinsville.
