Raymond Luther Bowers, age 81, of Figsboro Road, Martinsville, passed away on September 03, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Nelson County on February 25, 1934 to the late Hugh and Bertha Genney Bowers. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Sonny and Lynwood Bowers and a sister, Catherine Crum.

He was of the Holiness faith and he had worked for American Furniture as a Supervisor for 32 years.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret Littles Bowers of the home, two sons, Bobby Carter of Fieldale and Jerry Bowers of Roanoke, three daughters, Patty Bowers of Texas, Brenda Mitchell of Ridgeway, Lisa Poole of Collinsville, a brother, Edward E. Bowers of Collinsville, three sisters, Annie Lawrence of Murfreesboro, TN, Janet Ratcliff and Judy Davidson both of Martinsville, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 05, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home with Pastors Janet McGhee, Bobby McGhee and Dewey Hatcher officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 04, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn and at other times at the home.
