Obituary

Rachel Elizabeth Walker Major age 94 of Winston-Salem, NC, and formerly of Martinsville, VA died Monday March 1, 2010 at Forsythe Regional Hospital in Winston-Salem. She was born January 22, 1916 in Bedford County, VA to the late Fitzhugh and Callie McGee Walker. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Nolan A. Major, Sr., one daughter, Marie M. Horsley, 6 brothers, John, George, Edward, Henry, Lewis, and Nelson Walker, 3 sisters, Mary Young, Kate Lail, and Ruth Crowder.
She was a member of Starling Avenue Baptist Church in Martinsville, and was retired from the Martinsville DuPont Plant.
She is survived by one son, Nolan A. Major, Jr. of Richmond, VA, one daughter, Nancy Wingfield of Walkertown, NC, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild.
The funeral service will be Saturday March 6, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Roselawn Chapel with Dr. David Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM, prior to the service.
