Norman Cecil Young, Sr. age 78 of Oak Level, went to be with the Lord on Monday Nov. 17, 2014 at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Rocky Mount. He was born May 14, 1936 in Henry County to the late Phillip Reginald and Betty Mae Bradley Young. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife Shirley Keen Young, his son Norman Cecil Young, Jr., two brothers, Jesse O. Young and Kenneth A. Young, and two sisters, Iris Shelton and Gloria Adams.

Mr. Young was a longtime member of Oak Level Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon, and had helped build an edition to the church. He was the owner of the former "Trading Post" at Oak Level, a bus driver, and had worked at several area furniture factories.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Stone and her husband Danny, of Oak Level, one granddaughter, Rosa Stone of Oak Level, one brother Maxie L.Young of Hillsville, and one sister Peggy Adams of Bassett.

Mr. Young's funeral service will be Wednesday Nov. 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Roselawn Chapel with Pastor Steve Manuel officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the Chapel at Roselawn.
