Nellie Elizabeth Chitwood Atkins, 95, of Martinsville, passed away Thursday February 3, 2022, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Rocky Mount. She was born August 6, 1926, to the late Jim Ed and Mary Mullins Chitwood. She was a member of Kearfort Memorial Baptist Church. In addtion to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jennings C "Pete" Atkins. Surviving are three daughters; Sue A.(Tom) Kinack, Jean A. Shifflette and Sarah A. (Charlie) DiGregorio, three grandchildren: Kera Kinack, Nathan (Brogan) Shifflette and Savannah DiGregorio and her special feline companion, Spotty, several nieces and nephews,  special family friends; Sheila Adkins and Timmy Powell. A special thank you for the care given to our mother goes to; Kim Ferguson, Pam Barbour, Diane Carter, Mary Hunt and Peyton Varner. A private graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M. in Roselawn Burial Park with Director Kelly Ratcliff officating.
