Millard Eugene (Gene) Janney, 88, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away peacefully on April 6, 2019 at his son's home in Louisville, Kentucky.

Mr. Janney was born October 11, 1930 in Pearisburg, Virginia to the late Lula Belle (Griggs) and Millard O. Janney. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Irene (Meadows) Janney, his sisters Lake McKeal, Myrtle Brumback, Sylvia Smith, Martha Earnest, Joyce Gillespie, and his brothers James, Nelson, Walker, Kyle, and Roby Janney.

Mr. Janney is survived by his companion Ruth Lawson, and sons William (Mary) Janney of Hanover, IN and Wallace (Barbara) Janney of Louisville, Kentucky. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jonathan (Diana) Janney, Lydia Wright, David (Brittany Janney) and Tiffany (Eric) Foga, 8 great-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He retired from the former Southeast Container in Ridgeway, Virginia. He loved spending time with family, tinkering with small engines, gardening and spending time watching tugboats and barges on the Ohio River.

Visitation will be at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home in Martinsville, Virginia on Friday, April 12, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 11:00 AM with burial following at Roselawn Burial Park.
