Mildred Finney Martin age 86 of Collinsville went to be with the Lord on Monday May 7, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, NC. She was born September 27, 1925 in Franklin County to the late Thomas Napier and Harriet Jamison Finney. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her four brothers, Charles Marvin "Charlie" Finney, Garnett Finney, James Finney, and Lewis Finney, and one sister, Byrd Napier.
She was a member of Smith Memorial United Methodist Church, and was a homemaker. She worked at DuPont prior to her marriage.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years Jeryl M. Martin, Sr. of the home, two sons and daughters in law, Jeryl M. "Jerry" & Deborah T. Martin, Jr. of Ferrum, and James Michael "Mike" & Kay W. Martin of Newport News, one daughter and son in law, Susan M. & Ronald L. Dillon of Kaneohe, Hawaii, three sisters, Delma F. Richardson of Martinsville, Susie F. Narron of Middlesex, NC, and Helen McKinley of Taylorsville, KY, three grandchildren, Stuart L. & Denise Martin of Roanoke, Bradley & Elizabeth "Liz" Martin of Middleburg, VA, and Bryant Martin of Ferrum, and one great grandchild, Emmet Ashby Martin.
The funeral service will be Friday May 11, 2012 at 11:00 AM in Smith Memorial United Methodist Church with Dr. Tilden Bridges officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.
