Mary Madeline Thompson Peters age 84 of Axton passed away on Wednesday Jan. 6, 2016 at her home. She was born March 7, 1931 in Nelson County, VA to the late Neal and Nellie Puckett Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Henry Davis Peters, one son, Davis Peters, and one daughter, Joyce Williams.

Mrs. Peters was of the Brethren faith, was a homemaker, and had worked at Hooker Furniture.

She is survived by five sons, Robert Peters and wife Nellie of Martinsville, Jasper Peters and wife Julia of Axton, Everett Peters and wife Deborah of Axton, Barry Peters of Bassett, Dale Peters and wife Robin of Ridgeway, one daughter, Carolyn Duncan of Axton, 13 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be Friday Jan. 8, 2016 at 10:00 am in the Roselawn Chapel with Pastor Adam Touchstone officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park in Franklin County. The family will receive friends on Thursday Jan. 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Roselawn Chapel, and at other times at the home of her son on 280 Dickerson Dr. Axton.
