Marie Gilley Whitlow of Martinsville passed away Wednesday Dec. 5, 2018 at her home. She was born Feb. 6, 1931 in Henry County to the late Fred William and Edna Altizer Gilley. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her son, Phillip Davis Whitlow.

She was a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church, a graduate of Spencer Penn H. S. class of 1948, and retired from DuPont. She also worked at Pannill Knitting and Bassett Walker.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Posey Whitlow of the home, her daughter Diane (Jackie) Clifton of Ridgeway, two sisters, Peggy Vaughn of Martinsville, and Freda (Danny) Prillaman of Ridgeway, two grandchildren, Megane C. (Shawn) Savage of Raleigh, and Kevin Clifton of Martinsville, and one great granddaughter, Ella Marie Clifton.

Her funeral service will be Saturday Dec. 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Roselawn Chapel with Pastor Jim Pence officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the Roselawn Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Grove Christian Church, 5232 Preston Rd.
