Marie Ratcliff DeHart, age 80, of Martinsville, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the Kings Grant Healthcare Center.  She was born in Bassett to the late Jessie Lester Ratcliff and Hazel Whitlow Ratcliff Eanes on March 3, 1938.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence DeHart and a brother, Buford Ratcliff.

She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where she served the Methodist women in the Gertrude Tinnell UMW Circle, where she was President for several years, the Pastor Parrish Committee, Food Pantry and the Young at Heart Group.

She is survived by her daughters, Dell Marie (Jim) Pittman of Fayetteville, NC, and Diana Lynn (Scott) Carpenter of Lincolnton, NC, a brother, Harvey Wilson (Evelina) Ratcliff of Martinsville, a sister-in-law, Janet Ratcliff, six grandchildren, Christina Marie Pittman, Mary Carty Pittman, Ellen Marie Carpenter, Samuel Causey Pittman, Caroline Fair Carpenter and Julia Ann Carpenter and step-daughters, Denise Pate and Darlene Shotts.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Tim Gearheart officiating the service.  Interment will follow in the Roselawn Burial Park.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
