Obituary

Margaret Winn Kellam, 96 years young, of Martinsville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday Feb. 21, 2016 at Stanleytown Health and Rehab. She was born Jan. 26, 1920 in Martinsville to the late Joseph Muscoe and Nannie Ruth "Rose" Helms Winn. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, James Edward "Jay" Kellam, her step mother, Ann Winn Boswell, three brothers, Ben Winn, Mike Winn, and J.M. Winn, Jr., and two sisters, Pauline Muller, and Nannie Ruth Blackard.

Margaret was a beloved member of Calvary Christian Church where she was active in the sewing/quilting group until her health would not allow her to attend. She enjoyed and loved her church family and Pastor. She attended and participated in CWF programs as long as she was able. She was a graduate of Martinsville High School Class of 1938, and was a nurse's aide at the former Martinsville General Hospital. She was a loving gracious southern lady, gentle, soft spoken, and kind to all she met. She had many friends that she considered extended family. Margaret has now gone Home to be with her beloved "Jay". A very special thank you to the staff of Stanleytown Health and Rehab for all the loving care; the nurses, CNAs, therapists, and hairdresser, especially Troy. Also, a big thank you to the ladies at Blue Ridge Manor who took such good care of her while she was a resident with them.

She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Sue and Paul Nickelston of Martinsville, two sons and daughter in laws, Edd and Janice Kellam of Daytona Beach Shores, FL, and Joe and Michiko Kellam of Newport News, VA, one beloved sister, Libby Shipe of Salem, VA, five grandchildren, Monica Kellam of TX, Michelle and husband Mark Hensley of Suwanee, GA, Deanna "Dee" Counts of Reston, VA, Mona Kellam of NY, and Jim Kellam of Newport News, VA, four great grandchildren, Jordan and Dylan Counts of Reston, VA, Noah and Nicolas Hensley of Suwanee, GA, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

The funeral service will be Friday Feb. 26, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the Roselawn Chapel with Pastor Mike Carrow officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the Chapel.
