Lovelene Bowling Hensley, age 94, formerly of Martinsville, died on July 11, 2014 at the South Roanoke Nursing Home. She was born in Floyd to the late James Leonard and Toka Jane Thomas Bowling on August 06, 1919. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Milton Hensley, her brothers, Buel, Chester, Harry, Ottis, and Edward Bowling and sisters, Donnie Shively, Thurley Ingram and Nora Martin.
She was of the Primitive Baptist Faith. She graduated from the Ferrum High School as Valedictorian. Mrs. Hensley had worked for DuPont, Frank's Food Fair and Kroger's before retiring.
She is survived by her Son and Daughter-in-law, Warren and Debera Hensley of Gladstone, MO, her Daughter and Son-in-law, Karen and Bill Spears of Roanoke, two Sisters, Irene Thomason and Victoria Kirby both of Martinsville, three Grandchildren, Susan Stewart of Mooresville, NC, Sarah Bishop of Midlothian, VA, and Paula Morehouse of Kansas City, MO and one Great-Grandchild, Reagan Stewart of Mooresville, NC.
There will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Ivey officiating the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
The family would like to thank the staff of the South Roanoke Nursing Home and the Gentle Shepherd Hospice staff for their combined attention and care for their loved one.
