Obituary

Louis James Lopez, age 81 of Sandy River Road, Axton, died Monday, January 31, 2011 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. He was born April 10, 1929, in Stotesburg, WV, to the late Louis C. and Virginia Ann Craddock Lopez. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Georgia Doris Lopez.
He was a high school graduate and took management classes at Clemson and NC State University. He was a supervisor at Tultex with over 32 years service when he retired. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Martinsville and coached Little League baseball in Henry County for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marlene Lopez of the home, one son, Brad Lopez of Axton, one daughter, Marsha Lopez of Axton and four grandchildren, Cody Lopez, Nicholas Lopez, Charles Curtis, and James Curtis.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, February 03, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Mateer officiating the service. A private interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 02, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn.
Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 146 E. Main St. Martinsville, VA 24112.
