Larry Eldon Young Sr. age 77 passed away Friday May 30 at Lewis Gale Hospital in Salem, VA. He was born Feb. 12, 1937 in Briggsdale, Colorado to the late Manley P. and Alice M. Crawford Young. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his grandson Pvt. Zachary Robinson and his sister Elaine Weber.

He was a veteran of the US Air Force, and served during the Viet Nam era. He was a retired truck driver, and worked for over 25 years with Virginia-Carolina Freight Lines.

Mr. Young is survived by his wife of 57 years Carolyn Babb Young of the home, one son Larry Young, Jr. of Woolsey, GA, one daughter, Lisa Robinson of Maryville, TN., one brother, James Young of Farmington, NM., three grandchildren, Joshua Young of Pearisburg, VA, James T. Young of Athens, GA, and Dana Young of Fayetteville, GA, and four great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday June 3, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Roselawn Chapel with Rev. J. D. Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park, with full military honors by the Martinsville/Henry County Veterans Honor Guard, who will also serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday in the Roselawn Chapel, and at other times at the home on 70 Buena Road, Martinsville.
