Obituary

Kermit Michael Walker, age 70, of 2567 Snow Creek Road, Martinsville, died on Sunday, August 03, 2014 at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Penhook to the late Leonard Samuel and Helen Williams Walker on March 18, 1944.

Kermit was of the Baptist faith and just loved the outdoors including, gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was retired from E.I. DuPont with over 29 years of service and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had been battling Sjogrens Syndrome since 2007 which affected his health noticeably.

He was survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Pauline Johnston Walker of the home, his loving daughter and her husband, Andria Walker (Timothy J.) Hood, a brother and his wife, Clifton (Peggy) Walker of Brosville, four sisters, Genny Matherly, Judy Gardner, and Betty Kirk all of Snow Creek and Roslyn Matherly of Florida, two grandchildren, Aidan Hood and Isabella Hood.

His memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Gilmore officiating the service and military rites presented by the Martinsville Henry Co. Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the chapel on Thursday.
