Katie Hester Lester, age 84 of Bassett, passed away on March 30, 2018 at Sovah Health.  She was born in Surry Co., NC on February 6, 1934 to the late Martin and Pearl Sawyers Tolbert.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Riley Lester, a son, Jeffrey Lee Blevins, a daughter, Elizabeth Lovell, brothers, Bill, Arnold, Kirk, Kenneth and David Tolbert and sisters, Kathlene Beck, Thelma Hall, Lilly Brooks, Frankie Bowman and Anna Tolbert.

She was a member of Living Waters Church of God of Prophecy and Hester had retired form J.D. Bassett with over 28 years of service.

She is survived by  her sons, Roger (Sheila) Blevins of Winter Haven, FL, Larry (Lydia) Blevins of Bassett and Danny (Sandra) Blevins of Fieldale, daughters, Genia (Hank) Daniels of Ridgeway, Janie (Tom) Britton of Martinsville, Ramona Mills and Charlotte (Ronnie) Barley both of Bassett,  a sister, Mary Silas of Mt.Airy, NC, Thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home with Pastor Bud Sedwick officiating the service.  Interment will follow in the Roselawn Burial Park.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 6-8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn.  Online condolences may be made at www.roselawnchapelfuneralhome.com .
