Obituary

Julia Palmer Thompson age 97, formerly of Collinsville, passed away Sunday Feb. 10, 2019 at Carillion Roanoke Mem. She was born Nov. 14, 1921 in Campbell County, VA to the late Willie and Rena Brooks Palmer. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband Herman Thompson in 1984, four brothers, Thomas, Willie, Jr., Alvin, and John Palmer, and two sisters, Ruby Aguire, and Margaret Clay.

She was of the Baptist Faith, and retired from Sale Knitting Co. with 26 years of service.

She is survived by one son, Leroy (Peggy) Bradner of Ridgeway, one daughter, Peggy Gauldin of Roanoke, one granddaughter, Regina (Bobby) Bishop of Roanoke, one brother, Ernest Palmer of Preston, two great grandsons, Justin (Megan) Bishop of Lynchburg,  Josh (Morgan) Bishop of Roanoke, four great granddaughters, Liyang, Alyssa, Allie, and Emma Bishop all of Roanoke, one step grandson, Samuel R. Cox of Morganton, NC, two step granddaughters, Carolyn Rea of Ridgeway and Donna (Albert) Cox of Martinsville, and four great-great, grandchildren.

The funeral service will be Wednesday Feb. 13, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Roselawn Chapel with Rev. Dr. J.D. Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
