Judith "Judy" Forsythe, née Cardwell, 75, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on February 5th, 2020 at her home. Born October 8th, 1944, she was the proud only child of Fawnie Cardwell, a homemaker, and James Cardwell, an electrician, WWII veteran, and POW.She graduated from Drury Mason High School and attended both Western Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky. After obtaining her degree from the University of Kentucky, she went on to pursue a Masters degree. After graduation she worked for Tinder Krauss Tinder opticians in Lexington, taught home economics and consumer education in Atlanta, and managed property in Henry County among other occupations and residences. She was a devoted member of Peachtree Christian Church in Atlanta, worked for Ronald Reagan's 1980 presidential campaign, served on the Social Services board in Henry County, and performed other volunteer work. Judy enjoyed horticulture, gardening of all sorts, cooking, nutrition, canning, sewing, crafts, crochet, basket and flower arranging, playing the piano in her youth, real estate, surveying, law, politics, coffee, good conversation, and caring for a multitude of pets and animals. Judy was a fiercely protective and loving mother. She is survived by her sons Ray and Kenneth, as well as numerous friends and extended family, including Angela Gwynn the daughter of Ronald Dearing, Judy's longtime companion who preceded her in death.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday February 10, 2020, in the Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home with Director Kelly Ratcliff officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. On line condolences may be made by visiting the website of Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home. Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home and Burial Park is in charge of arrangements.
