Joseph McKinley Harris, age 92, of Roanoke and formerly of the Martinsville area, died on Tuesday, August 14, 2012. He was born on August 23, 1919 to the late Martin Luther and Lilla Harris. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Theurer Harris, a son, Joseph McKinley Harris, Jr., Sisters, Mildred H. Moore, and Mary Virginia Harris, Brothers, Charles Monroe, Lester McDowell, and Lowell Thomas Harris.
He had worked in the parts department as manager of Mitchell Motor Company and at the Bridge Street Motors in Martinsville.
He is survived by a sister, Elizabeth H. Shoemaker of Martinsville, one niece, many nephews as well as many extended family members in the area.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home. The Rev. Van Moore and Rev. Haywood Alcorn will officiate the service. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 a.m. until time of service in the chapel of Roselawn on Saturday.
