December 4, 1931 – April 7, 2022
John Lewis Wilson, Jr., 90, of Axton, passed away Thursday, April 7. 2022, at Sovah Health of Martinsville. He was born December 4, 1931, to the late John Lewis Wilson, Sr., and Lottie Bonnie Martin Wilson. After twenty-seven years of service in the United States, Navy John retired and then later retired after sixteen years with Memorial Hospital of Martinville. John attended Good Home Primitive Baptist Church and was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association. In addition to John's parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Lipford Wilson, three brothers; Gerald M., Herman L., and Buddie Wilson, one sister, Joyce Hoar and one Great-great-granddaughter, Layla Dillon.
Surviving are two sons; Randall K. and Dennis R. Wilson, two daughters; Rita F. Joyce and Tina L. Wilson, two sisters; Edna Collins, and Laverne Shaffer, five grandchildren, and nine Great-grandchildren, Three Great-great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 13, 2022, in the Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home with Kenny Bowles officiating, the family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park, with full military honors provided by the Martinsville-Henry County Veteran's Memorial Honor Guard.
