John Grayson Prillaman Jr.
Leaving his earthly body on Memorial Day, John joined a heavenly group of family, friends and veterans who predeceased him. He was a brave, kind, and gentle soul who found value in those he met no matter their status in life. He followed his Christian faith. He loved gospel and country music. His special four-legged friend, Mia, was his constant companion, sustaining him through thick and thin.
After graduating high school in Virginia and then colleges in Virginia and Tennessee, John joined an elite group "the few, the proud" the U.S. Marine Corps. He graduated from Officer's Candidate School with the Class of 1966 and The Basic School with he Class of 1967. After serving in Vietnam, he completed his service at the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He worked as a Special Agent for the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and later in various sales positions.
He loved and was loved, first as a son by parents, Reva S. and J. Grayson Prillaman (both deceased), as a brother by Mary Frances Bailey (Bob), and as a husband of 56 years by Janice C. Prillaman. He also was loved by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. A memorial service will be held for family at a later date in Virginia. Memorial contributions may be directed to any veterans' organization, any animal rescue or charity of you choice.
