John David Northcutt, Sr., age 82, of Martinsville, died on October 08, 2012 at the Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. He was born on September 02, 1930 in North Hampton County, NC to the late Luther Henry and Maggie Peede Northcutt. He was also preceeded in death by his first wife, Janie Coley Northcutt and his second wife, Ellen Haley Northcutt, a step-son, Billy Carter, a daughter, Margie Hopkins, two brothers, Luther and Lonnie Northcutt and a sister, Mary Bolting.
He was of the Baptist faith and had retired with 27 years service with the Tultex Corp.of Martinsville.
He is survived by two sons, John D. Northcutt, II of Collinsville and Luther Henry Northcutt of Martinsville, a step-son, Willie Carter of Arkansas, two daughters, April Smith of Horsepasture and Ruby Carter of Martinsville, three step-daughters, Dorothy Wike of Myrtle Beach, SC, Kathy Slack of High Point, NC and Mary Ellen Balentine of Bruceton, TN, a sister, Helen Brown of West Palm Beach, FL, five grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home and interment will follow in the Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. in the chapel of Roselawn and at other times at 945 Southland Drive, Martinsville.
