John Edward Mattingly, Jr., 69, of Bassett, passed June 25, 2026. He was born in Washington, D.C., on January 21, 1957, to the late John E. Sr., and Gladys Hayden Mattingly. He was a retired painter for the Landow Co. and served in the United States Army's 82 Air Borne division. John attended Restoration Ministries.

Surviving are his wife, Angilia Kay Lampkin, two sons and a daughter-in-law; John Paul and Mario Mattingly, and Christopher Joseph Mattingly, one brother, David Mattingly, and sister, Brenda Norman.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 A.M. July 9, 2026, at New Life Church, LaPlata, MD. family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Interment services will be held 11 A.M. Friday, June 10, 2026, in the Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home and family will receive friends one hour prior to services beginning at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be private in Roselawn Burial Park.
