John Raymond "Junior, or J.R." Moore, Jr. age 80 of 1011 Mountain Road, Martinsville, died Saturday February 26, 2011 at Blue Ridge Rehab Center in Martinsville. He was born September 14, 1930 in Rocky Mount, VA to the late John Raymond and Gladys May Bell Moore. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by two brothers, Albert and Henry Moore.
He was a Charter Member of One Accord Baptist Church, was employed at American Furniture Company, and was also a self-employed painter.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy Jean Hawks Moore of the home, one son, Raymond Larry Moore of the home, one daughter, Jeanette Pertsuliani of Martinsville, three brothers, Ted "Teddy" Moore of Waynesboro, James Richard Smith of Rocky Mount, VA, and Joseph Welch of Roanoke, six sisters, Barbara Sawyer, Bertha Jane Gallop, and Nellie Chapman all of Elizabeth City, NC, Virginia Hall of Amherst, Katherine Woods of Rocky Mount, and Gloria Jean Evans of Ferrum.
The funeral service will be Wednesday March 2, 2011 at 2:00 PM at One Accord Baptist Church with Revs. Phillip Woods, T.J. Phillips, and Pastor Jerry Slemp officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday night at One Accord Baptist Church, and at other times at the home on 1011 Mountain Road, Martinsville.
