Joe David "JD" Cobler, Sr., 88, of Spencer, Virginia, passed away Wednesday July 7, 2021, at his home. He was born in Virginia on March 10, 1933, to the late Damon M. and Cora Wilkins Cobler. He became a member of Moorefield Store Volunteer Fire Department in 1979, was a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church and retired from Hazelwood Trucking Co.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Purcell Cobler; one brother, Eldridge Cobler; son-in-law, Larry King and a grandson, Nicholas Aaron King. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law; Joe David, Jr. and Toni Cobler, two daughters and son-in-law; Barbara Gail and Richard Bowman and Penny King and friend Bobby Sheppard, four grandchildren; Josh and Kait Cobler, Marsha and Marty Todd, Cody Andrew King and friend Shelby Bryant, and Danielle Aryn King and four great-grandchildren; Case, Addie Grace and Cannon Cobler and Malyn Todd. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday July 10, 2021 at Unity Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Ed Hardman officiating. Interment will follow in Sandy Ridge Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Friday July 9, 2021, at the church and other times at the home.
