Jason Carlton Speakman age 41 of 636 Chatmoss Court Ext., Martinsville, and formerly of York County, VA, died Wednesday March 16, 2011 at his home. He was born January 27, 1970 in Martinsville to Ronald Charles Speakman, Sr., and Doris Durand Richardson. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Raymond R. Durand, Sr., and Bessie Barksdale Durand, and his paternal grandparents, Charles B. Speakman and Katherine Hoskins Speakman.
He was a graduate of York County High School, and attended Thomas Nelson Community College, and Costal Carolina University. Until becoming disabled, he was employed by Ronnie Middlebrook Construction Company as a framer. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca G. "Becky" Speakman of Grafton, VA, his father and step-mother, Ronald C. "Ron" Speakman, Sr. and Linda Speakman of Moneta, VA, his mother and step-father, Doris Durand Richardson and John Richardson of the home, two daughters, Isabella Paige Speakman of Grafton, and Madilynn Grace Speakman of Gloucester, VA, one brother, Ronald C. Speakman, Jr. of Orange Park, FL, four step-brothers, Robbie Richardson of Grafton, David and Allan Richardson of Martinsville, Christopher Martin of Bassett, one step-sister, Julie Martin of Collinsville, and numerous other relatives.
The Memorial Service will be Saturday March 19, 2011 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Martinsville with Dr. Dennis Knight, and Rev. John Fulcher officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church, and at other times at the home on 636 Chatmoss Court Ext., Martinsville.
