James Arthur Staples, Sr., of Martinsville, passed away Wednesday September 2, 2020, at Sovah Health and Rehab of Martinsville. He was born in Martinsville to Ellen Staples Divers.  He was employed as a machine tech of Eastman Chemical Co.  James was a member of the AMVET and Eagles Club.  In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Joyce Staples, five sons and daughters-in-law: James A. "Jaybo"  (Samantha) Staples Jr.,  Timmy (Phyllis) Dalton, Zac, Christian and Randy Staples, four daughters and a son-in-law; Crystal S. (Joseph) Purvis, Jamie, Lacey and Sally Staples, one sister, Renee Martin and nine grandchildren.  A Celebration of Life service for James will be held 7:00 P.M. Monday September 7, 2020 In the Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.  Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home and Burial Park entrusted with arrangements.
