The graveside service for Jack Bennett Lawson age 79 of Martinsville who died Friday August 3, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville, was held Saturday August 4, 2012 at 4:00 PM in Roselawn Burial Park with Rev. Charles Harrison officiating. Graveside military honors were by the Martinsville Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The members of the Veterans Honor Guard, who served as pallbearers, were: Thomas Spencer, James Spencer, Taylor Motley, Daniel Spencer, Ross Gale, Don Plogger, and Jason Plogger.
He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years Sylvia Lawson on Nov. 7, 2011.
He served in the US Army in Korea and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. .
He is survived by his son Jack Lawson, Jr. of Smithfield, two daughters, Norma Earls of Richmond, and Doris Hale of Franklin County, two brothers, Albert Brown of Fostoria, Ohio and Lacy Brown of Martinsville, three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
